[INTERVIEW | Q&A by Tammy Marie Johnson-CEO www.Taggleme.net]

What inspires your art?

I believe that art is inspired by the senses. Sound, sight, emotion, etc. I take the things that effect me the most, and channel into words and music. My music is influenced by the people I meet, the life experiences I face, basically life itself. Life can be simple, life can be complicated, writing music has always been an amazing outlet to lay everything out on the table and make a statement.

Do you have any current or upcoming projects or events?

I’m currently finishing recording my debut album, working with Chris Andrews (Filter / Mix Magazine) at Monument Sound (www.monumentsound.com). We’re really excited about this project. The songs we’re working with are great (listen to “Bad Reputation“), and the production is off the charts. I still gig regularly all over the state and hope to get back on the road and start touring again when the album is finished and mastered.

What do you want the taggleme community to know about you?

You’re invited, and most welcome to join the community via “Bobby Doran Music” on Facebook & Reverbnation.com/bobbydoran. We’ll be streaming our studio sessions via Ustream.com. You can also pledge for a CD or Vinyl copy of the new record by stopping by the Bobby Doran Debut Album Project on www.kickstarter.com.  Enjoy the music! More to come.

[MONUMENT SOUND STUDIOS]

Tonight we will start pre-production with artist and Denver local, Bobby Doran. Bobby has been in the studio before and has a singer/songwriter style like no other. Amazing vocals and encaptivating guitar melodies that keep his fans entertained around the region. Be sure to check out his website linked on the photo and also check the studio LIVE FEED link tonight around 6:00 MST to see a live feed of the studio in action. Simplified drums tonight should be a good touch.

[COLORADO MUSIC BUZZ MAGAZINE

Every once in a while a song is written that, upon hearing it, sticks in your brain like sweet saltwater taffy sticks to your dental filling. Such a song becomes your guilty pleasure.  Tantamount to that, the stories that Bobby Doran & The Satellite Disco tell in each song leave you feeling like you just read the dirty secrets in the pages of your sibling’s diary. Additionally, these tunes get tangled up in your head, leaving you humming the choruses and tapping your toes for days. It is not small wonder that baby-faced Bobby Doran and his Rock band have caused so much commotion here at CMB, being written up two months consecutively. Bobby Doran was born and raised on the East Coast and upon moving to Colorado joined forces with Bob Jones to create what is now known as Bobby Doran & The Satellite Disco. Bobby has been someone passionate about writing and playing music for many years and anyone listening can pick up on this experience in his creative cultivations.

BD & TSD aptly arrange Folk/Rock acoustic guitars with retro-simplistic keys, delightful jazz-infused horns and soulful vocals. This group has developed quite a following both in Colorado as well as the on East Coast; aside from pulling it off on record, BD & TSD also effectively execute live performances all over the Colorado map, and frequently travel to the East Coast to entertain fans. “Bad Reputation” and “Secret,” lyrically, are songwriter genius. Bobby Doran & The Satellite Disco creatively arrange music that is both technically and artistically composed. Influenced by a very diverse mix of mainstream Rock artists, such as Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, and O.A.R., BD & TSD blends some of the familiar with their own unique Acoustic Pop/Rock twists.  For good measure, William J. Smith, renowned producer for Sheryl Crow and Taylor Hicks, has lent his hand to the Bobby Doran franchise on songs such as “Believe” and “Santa Fe.”

In a city that produced the likes of One Republic, Flobots, and The Fray, and skyrocketed these bands into the mainstream: Bobby Doran and The Satellite Disco is one to keep an eye on. It would be no surprise to see this band catapulted to the same heights as some of these Denver-based legends. The commercial appeal of this group is that each track leaves you wanting more.  The only disappointment is coming to the end of the disc. Retribution can be found in the fact that this is only the beginning for BD & TSD.
